Description:
the main varieties grown in Piedmont are:
- European group: Santa Clara, Ramassin;
- Sino-Japanese group: Angeleno.
Origin:
they are originally from Susa, Persia cities.
The fruit:
drupe ovoid and globose, bluish, purplish, purple or yellow, covered with bloom; the pulp is yellow, consistent. The Ramassin compared to other plums are small, purplish blue color (there are also varieties with yellow skin, but they are not widespread), with delicate yellow flesh.
Maturation:
July 1 – September 15
Flavor:
there can be some differences among the varieties, but in the fruits predominate sweet taste, aromaticity and juiciness.
It's good because:
rich in potassium, calcium and vitamins, the plums have purifying and laxative effects.
